2003 Fine Silver Proof Coin Set
Royal Australian MintFine Silver Proof 2003 Year Set
Since its inception, the Mint has maintained a proud tradition of chronicling the defining moments and themes of Australia's historical, social and cultural fabric. In recent years, the annual Year Sets have continued to become highly sought after and prized mementos in this regard.
The release of this prestigious 2003 deluxe edition Year Set extends that reputation even further, immortalising - for the
very first time - a complete collection of all Australian coin denominations from one year in finest quality silver.
From the preparation of the dies, to the treatment and selection of the blanks, to the individual striking and inspection of the final coins, no effort has been spared to ensure this premier proof collection represents the pinnacle of collector coin preparation and production.
The dies themselves are cut from the best quality steel, sand-blasted and hand-polished under a microscope for 2-3 hours. The chrome plated surface is also cleaned with alcohol before each blank is inserted to prevent any foreign material blemishing the die and leaving imperfections.
Bearing all the hallmarks of the Royal Australian Mint's renowned commitment to quality, from the immaculately sculpted silver proof coins to the exquisite wooden presentation case crafted from West Australian Jarrah, this first of a kind release is a showpiece not only to treasure, but to keep on public display for all to see and admire.
