Australia's Volunteers Making a Difference

With the issue of this year 2003 Six Coin Proof Set, the Royal Australian Mint, Australia's national Mint, pays tribute to over four million Australians. These are our volunteers who give freely of their time to help those around them and the causes they believe in.

The designs on the 20 cent, 50 cent and $1 coins pay tribute to Australia's volunteers working in so many different areas of our society. Whether it is helping to provide food to the aged and needy, providing shelter and clothing, caring for children and young people, helping at sporting events and looking after our environment, we have a proud record of helping others in need. Those well-known icons of Australia, the Surf Life Savers as well as SES volunteers and firefighters are also recognised.
