2004 Australia's Coins Proof Set

Australians have always had a close affinity for the designs on their circulating coins. The images highlight so much of what is special about Australia. Australia's first decimal coin designs as well as the first designs on the $1 and $2 coins are depicted on the coins for 2004. This proof year set establishes a world first, with the design of the $1 coin being
featured in a holographic format. Using state-of-the-art technology developed by the CSIRO, the Mint depicts the kangaroos on the coin, in changing iridescent colour as the set is tilted. The image of an Aboriginal elder on the $2 coin pays tribute to the first Australians and one of the oldest cultures on earth. The beautiful Coat of Arms on the 50c coin, with the kangaroo and emu standing guard on each side, represents all Australians. The other coins highlight some of the wildlife that makes Australia such a special place.
